Put a Filter On It!

Have you ever said or reacted to something and immediately wished you could take it back? It’s as though you heard the words coming but had no power to reel it back in and when your ears really registered what you said you were a bit embarrassed, maybe even shocked. But let’s be honest, some of us lack a filter and find ourselves, more often than not, speaking our most inner and inappropriate thoughts which kill each others’ spirits rather than uplift.

If we’re not careful we’ll justify our words with “well they deserved it” or “someone needed to tell the truth”. Know that whatever is in the heart the mouth shall speak. Therefore, we have to “heart cleanse” daily so our minds and mouth speak words of life.  The Bible admonishes us, “And above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 NIV

Finally, we must also keep in mind and hold close to heart the instruction given by James, “Out of the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. These things, my brothers, should not be this way [for we have a moral obligation to speak in a manner that reflects our fear of God and profound respect for His precepts].”  James‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

What have you used your tongue to do – minister life or strife?

Love You All to Life!
