Love Receives then Gives

(inspired by Chris Tiegreen’s Salt & Light devotional reading “Love In, Love Out”)

We have often heard that if we don’t know how to receive love, then it is impossible for us to give love. While this may be hard to hear, it is true. Tiegreen highlights this point in his devotional where he states, “In our desire to be selfless, we often forget how vital it is to receive love….Our mission [as Christians] is to receive the love of God in all its fullness and then impart it – in all its fullness.”

In other words, we must be first recipients of God’s love before we can share it with others. I realize it’s often easier for us to believe God’s love for others than in His love for us personally or even to believe He’ll come through for others but doubt whether He’ll come through for us. I know I’m not the only one who’s thought this, right? 🤔

Know that God’s love for us is pure, undefiled, and is not conditional like ours can sometimes be. Therefore, we must shake off the lie the enemy has told us, let go of our stinky thinking, and open up and allow God to love on us so we can then love on others the way He intended. In this, Jesus’ commandment is fulfilled that we love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

Love You All to Life!
